Once again, we learned that the 4th:
costs a lot of money that eventually goes up in flames;
makes Cooper scared witless for days, not to mention toddlers!;
brings out a competitive edge in neighbors (i.e. guys and their explosives);
blows the limit on hot dog consumption
But we love it all the same! I am proud to be an American. I believe we live in a great nation, with great people. I love to see the flag flying in front of my house and the homes of neighbors. I love that this holiday brings folks out of their houses to consort with neighbors, eat lots of bbq and celebrate our country's heritage.
This year we went to the in-laws for the bbq. We were welcomed at the Jensen's with a great spread and all the family. Maddy was even home from California for the weekend! I drove my new car (Ringo? maybe Ringo) and Grandpa took it for a spin. The cousins got in a good wiffle ball game and we headed home before it got too dark. We arrived back at good 'ol Brookwater just in time to join in the fireworks extravaganza. The kids sat in the back of the truck while Larry lit our humble contribution. A few friends showed up later, we cleaned up the scraps and went to bed to the sounds of lingering hoopla in the area. Fun was had all around!
So happy 4th to everyone.... until next year fireworks stands!
